Matthew Fawcett
Jr Mounties Hockey Director
Fawcett serves as head coach of the 13U Jr. Mounties team for the 2025-26 season and a scout for the Maryland Black Bears of the North American Hockey League and the USHL Youngstown Phantoms. Fawcett’s playing career began locally with the Providence Capitals before playing prep hockey at The Winchendon School. He spent time in the British Columbia Hockey League and the United States Hockey League before playing NCAA Division I hockey at Quinnipiac University and the University of Maine. Fawcett earned an MBA from Salve Regina University, combining his hockey expertise with strategic leadership. Most recently, he coached junior hockey in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and ran skills camps with the Providence Capitals. Fawcett is co-founder of 401 Hockey Development, a comprehensive hockey development program catering to players of all ages and skill levels.

Tao Ishizuka
Head Coach- 2014
Tao Ishizuka grew up playing youth hockey for the 1999 Providence Capitals in the EHF. He then went to prep school at the Governors Academy, where he served as a captain. Tao then played juniors and captained the RoughRiders in the EHL. He was then recruited to Curry College, where he served as captain, made two NCAA tournament appearances, and earned the Athlete of the Year award. Outside of hockey Tao also graduated valedictorian with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. Following college, Tao played professionally for one season with the Macon Mayhem in Macon, Georgia. With over 20 years of hockey experience, he has since transitioned into coaching, aiming to mentor the next generation of players. Tao is dedicated to using his knowledge to help players get to the next level, but also to foster their growth as well-rounded individuals both on and off the ice.

John Mulera
Head Coach- 2015
John Mulera is from Rockville, Maryland and grew up playing hockey for The Washington Little Capitals and Team Maryland in the AYHL. He then attended Georgetown Preparatory School before transferring to the Winchendon School in Massachusetts to pursue Prep School hockey. After high school, John played junior hockey for the Boston Junior Bruins in the NCDC where he was a captain and won a league championship. John is the All-time leading scorer in the history of the Jr. Bruins and the NCDC. John then attended the University of Maine and played two years of Division 1 hockey before transferring to Salve Regina where he served as captain of the hockey team. John had the opportunity to represent Team USA at the FISU World University Games where he earned a silver medal. Following Salve Regina, John is playing for Utica University chasing a National Championship while earning his MBA. John is excited to transition into coaching to use his knowledge and love for the game to help shape and develop hockey players to grow on and off the ice.
